DescriptionPhotograph of "Old Moccasin John" last silver tailed grizzly bear of Orange County. Trapped by Andrew Joplin, son of J. C. Joplin who for thirty years was the County treasurer of Orange County. The bear trapped by Mr. Joplin, in Bell Canyon was sent to the Smithsonian Institute and may be seen there. Mrs. Rochester is the daughter of Andrew Joplin. "No. 5." Photograph 5-1/2"W x 7"H. Trapped by Andrew Joplin, Feb. 26, 1908 and shot by Ed Adkinson." Copy typed from old label that hung in annex of veranda. Photo. had no number so the same number as the trap in which he was captured was given to the photo. Copy of photo made by Museum January 1971 and display will be reworked, per Mr. H. Trap numbered 2433.1.
