DescriptionThis hammer features the free-flowing “S” design elements typical of the Massim area. Hammers were used for utilitarian purposes. It is likely that this specific example was used to pound a chisel used for carving designs into other implements or into decorative elements of larger pieces. It is also possible that it was used to aid in the creation of kula canoes.On View
