DescriptionModern cropped print of photograph 75.30.4a, depicting a Decoration Day parade in Santa Ana from the corner of Fourth and Main streets. The photo was taken by local photographers Conaway & Hummel around 1889. Today known as Memorial Day, the celebration of Decoration Day began in 1866 and was named for the practice of decorating graves in remembrance of fallen Civil War soldiers.
