DescriptionBlack and white portrait photograph of Chief Pacer, also known as Essa-Queta, Chief of Apache and possibly Kiowa peoples. It was taken at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and dates to 1858. He is looking off to the side. There is a feather and fur tail hanging from his hair. He is also wearing beaded chain-link earring. His shirt is plain in style with light-colored trim down the middle and a square on the proper left side. This photograph is mounted onto an orange board with the photographer's name, W.S. Soule, and location, Fort. Sills, printed on the back.
