DescriptionMask; Pende, Zaire. 10"H with raffia beard. Carved wood, raffia, paint. Carved face with prominent headgear, low forehead, thick eyebrows, puncilated prominent eyes, upturned short nose with large, deep nostril cavity, puckered mouth with four drilled holes, knobular ears, raffia beard. Facial spaces painted red. Two drilled holes on top of headgear. Scarification markings on each cheek. Six holes to attach raffia beard. Adze marks on inside cavity.On View
