DescriptionYoruba helmet mask, sculpted as Gẹlẹdẹ image in the Okaje bridal dress called Ere Gelede. This ancestral image probably carved by Sixlakatu Ayo in the area of Abeokuta in the period 1900-1935, an unusually early provenance. Carved with very fine rendition of facial volumes and hair arrangement, early pigments. All holes are fire bored.On View
