DescriptionStone Palma, Veracruz, Mexico. Stone palma in the form of a quetzal bird. The palma, along with the yoke and hacha, are the three forms commonly identified with the Mesoamerican ball game. Palmas are found only in Veracruz. They are depicted on reliefs found at the Veracruz site of Tajin. In these reliefs, a palma-like implement is worn frontally on the yoke of a ballplayer.
