DescriptionIt is possible that this shield was made and used by the Amhara or Sidamo people of southwestern Ethiopia. A shield currently in the collection (2010.14.1) that is similar to this one and was also donated by Anne and Danny Shih is attributed as such. While the exact cultural attribution of the shield is unknown, it is very likely that this shield is Ethiopian in origin. It shares the characteristics of many other shields from the southwestern area of the country including form, material and color.On View
