DescriptionThis story board was made by the Asmat people, residing in the coastal region of Papua (Irian Jaya) Province, Indonesia. It dates to the 20th century. Asmat carvings show with great detail aspects of daily life. Their subject matter ranges from the traditional to the contemporary, from myth to reality, from sacred to the downright humorous. This carving depicts men as they depart on a warring expedition. At one end two men playing very large drums can be seen.On View
