DescriptionThis nutcracker was collected from the Russell Islands in the Central Province of the Solomon Islands and dates back to the 20th century. This nutcracker consists of a conical stone tethered with rattan to a wooden stick. The use of conical stones to crack the shell of nuts, such as Canarium nuts and betelnuts, was common method of food preparation on Russell Islands.On View
