DescriptionPhoto of Ada Bowers in an 1880s-1890s dress holding a fan and standing next to the Bowers home. The inscriptions written on this photograph are by Florence Fisher Reed, granddaughter of Helen Abbott Reed, Ada's older sister.Written on the front are the words: Aunt Ada Bowers. The reverse reads: c. 1935. This is likely incorrect or miswritten given that Ada Bowers died in 1931. It is more likely that the photo was taken in 1925, as are several others in this donation.
Upon their death, Charles and Ada Bowers left their home and the land it sat upon to the City of Santa Ana under the express condition that the land be used to build a museum. Thus, Bowers Museum was built in the name of its founders.
