DescriptionThis Miao necklace is probably from the Guizhou Province of China. Research suggests that the peanut shape was used by the Miao as a symbol of fertility. This may be due to the large number of peanuts that can sprout from one plant. As with other silver adornments made by the Miao, this necklace would have been reserved for festival or celebratory wear, most often by unmarried women.On View
