DescriptionBows and arrows were among the most common weapons in Papua New Guinea, and were used for both hunting and warfare, accompanied by protective shields. Normally made of a light, flexible type of wood like bamboo, arrows such as these were designed with pointed or barbed tips so that they might pierce the enemy’s skin. Some arrows were decorated with linear designs by the application of pigment.On View
