DescriptionA mortar made from ground stone and collected from the New Georgia Islands in the Western Province of the Solomon Islands.This piece dates to the late 19th to early 20th century. It is circular, deep and tall. The color is grey, but there is a white powder on the inside as well as plant residue or debris. There is a lip that circles around the bottom 1 1/4 from the base.
