DescriptionThis is a lunchbox used by the Miao cultures of China. Baskets and buckets are used for many purposes by the Miao including the transportation of goods, storage, and food preparation. Though no similar examples of this object have been found, anecdotal evidence indicates that it was used as a lunch pail. The Miao culture is primarily agrarian with rice, wheat, yams, sorghum and maize as some of the primary staples of the Miao diet which also includes vegetables and the meat of many endemic animals. This container would have been capable of holding most Miao dishes.On View
