DescriptionThese hollow bracelets cast in silver, called kadla or kadiya, were made by the Gujarati people of western India. This style of bracelet was originally worn by women in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat, but is also made and worn by their northern neighbors in Rajasthan. In Gujarat, adornments are known to be massive and often cast in silver. In ancient and modern Indian cosmology, as in many South Asian cultures, wearing multitudes of large and shining jewelry pieces is a way of displaying one's wealth on the body.On View
